Middle Tennessee Locally Grown:  Some of Our New or Returning Items

Middle Tennessee Locally Grown market

will be open for your orders till Tuesday evening at 10 pm.

The market opened for ordering, as usual, on Sunday morning, and will close at 10 pm on Tuesday. Please support our local farmers, all of whom live within thirty miles of our market. Shorten your supply chain! Shop local!

Please share this mailing with a friend and invite them to become a customer and share in all this local farm goodness.

This is a half-hearted attempt at finding some/most of the newer items on our market. No guarantee of thoroughness is included! My busiest time of year has me running pretty tired.

If you would be interested in posting these on local facebook groups for me, so I can get more than 4 hours of sleep tonight, please text or email me. I have a list of groups to which a post could easily be made. I just have no energy to do it.

OK, I was silly to think I could get all the new items in one newsletter! Next week I will introduce two new farmers, and do justice to their beautiful offerings. For now, these are some items deserving of your attention. Please look through the whole list!

(Row 1) Endive, Red Russian Kale, and Spring Lettuce from CS3 Farms.
(Row 2) Strawberries, bunching onions, and organic radishes from Country Road Homestead.
(Row 3) Yellow Jubilee tomato plant from Cheryl’s Neighborhood Garden, several varieties of heirloom tomato plants from Dogwood Valley Greenhouse, several types of vegetable seedlings from McPeak Homestead.
(Row 4) “Garden in a Vase” from Dogwood Valley Greenhouse, Pork chops from Weaver Farms, Pork cutlets from Sow’s Ear Piggery.
(Row 5) 30 lb Beef Deal from Triple T Cattle Farms, Sirloin Steak from Solace Farm, Broiler Chicken from Wayne Diller.

NashPhilly: (From Management…this is one of the BEST potato salads I have ever had!!) Find our new items in Cold Salads and Dips we have a new salad this week: A much different take on a potato salad but I am sure it will not disappoint you in the least bit. I render most of the bacon fat first, then add onions, garlic, pepperoncinis and red bell peppers. Once they are slightly cooked, deglaze the pan with red wine vinegar. And the final step, toss the potatoes in the pan and finish with some fresh parsley and thyme.

It’s light, slightly sour and spicy, very filling, and fresh. Great for these hot summer days ahead of us. Perfect for a backyard bbq. One order of this will certainly be able to feed a few people very well.

Ingredients: Russet potatoes, bacon, onions, pepperoncinis, red bell peppers, parsley, thyme, extra virgin olive oil, red wine vinegar, black pepper and Himalayan sea salt.

It is recommended to heat this up slightly or to serve it at room temperature. If its right out of the refrigerator
the bacon fat may be coagulated, might not be as good is all.

Italian Stuffed Flank Steak available this week. A 1 lbs 10 oz flank steak that is seasoned generously with thyme, oregano, rosemary, Himalayan sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper. That is layered with boursin garlic, shallot and herbed cheese, sweet and tangy sun dried tomatoes, and spinach. I roll this meaty stuffed flank log and roast it for 45 minutes @ 400 degrees. In the picture taken I was able to cut 6 fat pieces from this when it was finished. This will feed two people very happily with two pieces for leftovers another day. When you order this dish it will come as it is from the oven at a doneness of a medium/ medium well It will also not be cut into slices. Ingredients: Flank steak, boursin garlic, shallot and herbed cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, thyme, oregano, rosemary, Himalayan sea salt and black pepper. Reheat Instructions: Preheat Oven to 350 degrees f. Cut from steak log to desired thickness. Place steak slices into pan cover with foil. Cook for 7-10mins or until hot.
Several popular items still available: Beef & Cheese Lasagna, Family or Single Portion, Broccoli Cheddar Cheese Soup, Brussell Sprouts with Carmalized Onions & Bacon, Cajun Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, Chicken Marsala, Gluten Free Italian Pasta Salad, Gnocchi with Alfredo Sauce, Gnoochi with Roasted Garlic Mainara Sauce, Mash Potatoes with Sour Cream & Green Onions, Minestrone Vegetable Soup, New England Clam Chowder, Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich, Spicy Baked Chicken Penna Pasta in Family or Single Portion.
